CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • FOR INSULATED JACKETS

    1. Prepare your garments: Turn your jacket inside-out, close all zippers, and empty pockets. This will help protect the jacket's delicate fabric and ensure that zippers and pockets are not caught or damaged during cleaning.

    2. Read the care label: Before you start cleaning your technical down jacket, always check the care label. This will provide you with specific instructions on cleaning and caring for your jacket. The care label can be found on the inside of your jacket. Look for a small pouch that can be turned inside out on the lower left side.

    3. Spot clean as necessary: If your jacket has a small stain or is just a little dirty, spot cleaning may be all that is necessary. Use a damp cloth and a mild detergent to gently rub the affected area. Be sure to rinse the area with clean water and allow it to dry completely before wearing the jacket again.

    4. Machine wash with care: If your jacket requires a deeper clean, you can machine wash it. Use a front-loading washing machine, as top-loading machines can damage the jacket. Use a gentle, cold water cycle and a mild detergent. Do not use fabric softener or bleach. After the wash cycle is complete, run an additional rinse cycle to remove any detergent residue. Tumble dry on low heat with a couple of clean tennis balls to help fluff up the down or synthetic fill. The drying time will vary depending on the size of your jacket and the efficiency of your dryer, but make sure to dry it for at least an hour or until the jacket is completely dry. Run more cycles if necessary. Be patient and avoid setting the dryer to a higher heat, as this can damage the fabric and the down fill. You may need to check the jacket periodically during the drying process to make sure it is not overheating or becoming too dry.

    5. Store properly: When you are not wearing your jacket, store it in a cool, dry place. Avoid folding the jacket as much as possible, as this can compress the down fill and reduce its insulating properties. Instead, hang the jacket on a hanger or lay it flat.

    6. For down jackets — avoid exposure to extreme heat: Do not iron or dry clean the jacket, and avoid exposing it to direct heat sources, such as radiators or fireplaces. Extreme heat can damage the down fill and the fabric of the jacket.
  • FOR SHELL JACKETS WITH DWR COATING

    1. Washing: You can wash your shell jacket in a washing machine on a gentle cycle using a mild detergent. Avoid using bleach, fabric softener, or any products containing chlorine. It is recommended to use a front-loading washing machine as they are less harsh on clothes than top-loading machines.

    2. Drying: After washing, hang the jacket to air dry or place it in a dryer in a low heat setting. High heat can damage the DWR coating, so avoid using high heat to dry the jacket.

    3. Ironing: Avoid ironing the jacket, as the heat from the iron can damage the DWR coating. If you need to remove wrinkles, use a steamer instead.

    4. Storage: Store your shell jacket in a cool, dry place.

    5. Reapplying DWR: Over time, the DWR coating on your jacket may start to wear off. To restore its water-repellent properties, you can apply a DWR spray or wash-in product.

  • DURABLE WATER REPELLENCY

    1. Clean the jacket: Before applying the new DWR coating, make sure that the jacket is clean. Follow the instructions listed above.

    2. Choose the right DWR product: There are two types of DWR products available: spray-on and wash-in. The spray-on product is easier to use and is suitable for small areas. The wash-in product is better for larger areas and can be used in the washing machine.

    3. Apply the DWR product: If you are using a spray-on product, spray the coating evenly on the jacket's surface from a distance of around 15 cm or 6 inches. Be sure to cover all areas of the jacket. If you are using a wash-in product, add the product to the washing machine during the rinse cycle.

    4. Let the jacket dry: After applying the DWR coating, let the jacket dry completely. It's best to hang the jacket in a well-ventilated area and allow it to air dry.

    5. Test the jacket: Once the jacket is dry, test the water repellency by splashing water on it. If the water beads up and rolls off, then the DWR coating has been successfully reapplied. If the jacket absorbs the water, then the coating may need to be reapplied again.
